Binance bought cryptocurrency exchange Sakura Exchange BitCoin (SEBC), registered with the Financial Services Agency of Japan. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
“With this acquisition, Binance enters the Japanese market as a regulated entity,” the statement said.
Takeshi Chino, general manager of Binance Japan, said the country’s economy is “already ready for the active adoption of blockchain.” He said the company intends to work with regulators and develop the exchange according to local requirements.
“We are committed to helping Japan take a leading role in the crypto industry,” Chino stressed.
